Mistrust - Withdrawn, obstinate, unwilling to give anything away, no sense of basic  trust, questioning everything, sometimes too unsuspecting and trusting

Based on disappointing experiences, believing that others want to engage in  persecution. Believing oneself to be in hostile surroundings where others intend  to cause harm.  Overlooking one’s own actions and outwardly projecting negativity. People  with this conflict are sometimes strikingly unsuspecting and not sufficiently  careful, becoming easily disappointed by others and thus increasing their level of  mistrust.  The unsolvable problem of mistrust was aptly expressed by the U.S. billionaire  J. Paul Getty: “If you can trust a person, a contract is superfluous. If you can’t trust  him, a contract is useless.”  

Too much mistrust, as exemplified by a useless contract, leads to deep-seated  hopelessness and disappointment.  Those with ingrained mistrust are frequently observed to have a fundamental  lack of basic trust – everything is questioned (even the existence of this conflict!),  everything is dissected with a critical eye and broken down into individual parts.  Internally, one rejects being emotionally open, afraid of surrendering oneself  completely to someone or something.
